Deciding

The first step is deciding that veneers are right for you. We can help you with that decision, but it isn’t something we take lightly. In order to place veneers, we have to do irreversible work to prepare your teeth. We want to make sure that you have considered all options and are comfortable with the end results.

We recommend placing veneers in an even number to help your smile stay uniform. You might choose to replace all of your teeth, or your might choose to replace two. We can help you decide what would look best in your smile so that your cosmetic work doesn’t stand out in an unattractive way.

Procedure

The procedure for veneers begins with preparing your teeth. Veneers are thin shells that are bonded to the fronts of your teeth. We need to make room for those shells so that they don’t extend beyond the natural line of your teeth. We begin by removing a thin layer of enamel from the teeth that are being covered. We then take impressions and send them to a lab where your veneers will be crafted. In the meantime, we’ll place temporary veneers over your teeth.

When you come back to the office, we will remove the temporaries and place your permanent veneers on your teeth. We will take time to trim and perfect each veneer so that you get the exact look you were hoping for.

Care

Once your veneers are in place, it will be up to you to care for them between your regular dental cleaning appointments. It is important that you brush twice each day and floss your teeth to protect yourself from decay and gum disease, both of which can threaten your veneers. With great care, you can expect your veneers to last for 15-20 years!
