Welcome to another January edition of the Westwood Dental Smiles blog! We can’t wait to see you in our L.A. dental office, so be sure to get your 2016 appointments on the calendar. You can rest assured that we will do our part to keep your mouth healthy and your smile looking phenomenal!
Let’s face it: most of us were not born with perfect teeth. And the years are often unkind. That’s just the way it is. Still, we all want to look our best, and we tend to be embarrassed or inhibited when certain aspects of our smiles are not quite what we want them to be.
That’s why, in today’s blog post, we wanted to explore a way to cosmetically transform the appearance of teeth that are cracked, chipped, stained, or worse. We’re talking, of course, about dental veneers!
Dental Veneers Are A Great Cover-Up
A wide array of cosmetic dentistry solutions exist, but none are more versatile than veneers. Our dental veneers are a great long-term fix that will make your teeth appear to be flawless! Doesn’t that sound nice?
So, what are they, exactly?
Simply put, veneers are highly durable shells that get applied to the front of your existing teeth. They provide a life-like, tooth-colored look that will give you a radiant smile. If your teeth have been horribly damaged or simply have accumulated a few small imperfections over the years, a veneer will make your smile look completely refurbished.
You may already know that veneers are typically made of composite or porcelain. Around here, we use porcelain because it is considered superior due to its durability and its similarity to your real enamel. Beyond that, porcelain is translucent and reflects light the way real teeth do. Don’t fret, our team exactly matches porcelain veneers to the best color for your teeth. This means that you have a seamless and all-natural look.
We make this solution easy and accessible at Westwood Dental Smiles. Applying veneers can be done easily in two visits to our L.A. dental office.
To get the process started, we will take an impression of your tooth so that we can create a veneer that will fit over the tooth while looking and feeling perfectly natural.
After we have your individualized veneer, you will need to come in for your second part of the treatment. At that time, we will carefully remove a small section of the surface of your teeth and bond the veneer to your tooth to replace that section.
In the end, your smile will have an incredible new look! No more moments of embarrassment!
Sounds great, right?

During your cosmetic consultation, we will walk through the pros and cons of the veneer procedure and what to expect during and after treatment.
Here’s our disclaimer: your mouth must be healthy (free of decay and gum disease), and your enamel must be thick and strong enough to go through with this procedure.
